Our rivers and streams hold immense potential for improving people’s well-being and quality of life. As a result, local and regional governments around the world are promoting measures to improve the environmental quality and social use of riparian landscapes.
However, many such measures are carried out without public involvement, undermining the citizens’ interests, opinions and wishes and often giving rise to criticism and even opposition. For this reason, mechanisms must be found to make public participation in this kind of initiatives more viable.
With that goal in mind, the Viu la riera! [Experience the Stream] project was created to support public participation in the improvement of our rivers and streams.
Viu la riera! is supported by RecerCaixa, a joint programme of the Obra Social “la Caixa” and the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP).
